The University of Limassol (UoL) is a progression of the Cyprus International Institute of Management (CIIM), a renowned business school operating in Cyprus since 1990. The CIIM was founded as a Private School of Higher Education by a group of leading executives of the Cypriot economy and renowned academics from leading Universities overseas.
The mission of the University of Limassol is threefold:
✓ To provide a conducive learning environment and innovative educational methods that motivate students to explore, challenge, create, and lead.
✓ To generate and disseminate new knowledge through frontier research and innovation in collaboration with academics from around the world.
✓ To contribute to the solution of major problems of society and advance the prospects of sustainable development for humanity.
The core philosophy of UoL is excellence in education and research, as well as social responsibility and ethical leadership. Its mission is to provide an inspired teaching and learning environment that motivates students to explore, challenge, create, and lead. An equally important mission of UoL is to create and disseminate new knowledge through research and innovation, contributing to solving social problems and promoting sustainable development for humanity.
The university started operations with three schools and three departments: the CIIM Business School with the Department of Management, the Technology and Innovation School with the Department of Information Technologies, and the Social Sciences and Humanities School with the Department of Economics. In 2024, the Department of Psychology was formed under the Social Sciences and Humanities School. During the academic year 2024 – 25, the university has submitted and awaits accreditation by the CYQAA of the Department of Education and the Department of Law, both under the Social Sciences and Humanities School. Furthermore, the university is working towards the development of a Dentistry School and a Medical School.
The University of Limassol operates on two campuses: the Nicosia campus, where the postgraduate programs will continue to be offered, and the Limassol campus, where both undergraduate and postgraduate programs are offered.
Additionally, the following specialized Centers operate at UoL:
