University of the National Education Commission (UKEN)

 

University of the National Education Commission, founded in 1946 is nowadays one of the largest and one of the oldest pedagogical universities in Poland. It has long been prized for a well-deserved reputation. The achievements of numerous generations of the teaching staff and students (over 150 thousand graduates), as well as the efforts of the employees, who want to continue modern education responding to the challenges of the twenty-first century, as well as cooperation with the renowned academic institutions in Europe, have formed the present University. Since its foundation, the university has been constantly expanding its educational offer, making it more attractive to meet the interests and needs of young people and of the current needs of society. The ultimate goal is to prepare our students and graduates for their future careers and achievements according to their skills and expectations. It functions according to the model of integrated education combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills. The mission of the University is reinforced in scientific research and development according to the highest European standards in several dozen fields of studies.

The variety of educational programs on offer at our University – constantly being adapted to the needs of the labour market – is truly impressive. It includes dozens of fields of studies at the first and second degree levels, Ph.D. degree studies, and postgraduate studies in five faculties: Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Social Sciences, Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences, Faculty of Education and Psychology and Faculty of Art.

University of the National Education Commission is a regional leader in implementing educational and social projects co-financed by the European Union. Recently, the University has been involved in more than 40 projects. They have been directed to many stakeholders including mainly students of the University, pupils (primary and secondary level of education) and teachers from regional schools, as well as University workers. The University is also actively involved in various activities for the development of the region and education of young people
